How do I Update my Bully Dog Device?

    Basic Steps to Update a GT Tuner

    1. Run the Update Agent.

    2. Connect the Micro SD card to your computer.

    3. Choose the vehicle application and let the Agent search.

    4. Click the Update button.

    5. When the Update is finished, put the Micro SD card in the GT.

    6. Update the GT Platinum from the SD card by choosing Update GT Software, or Update GT Firmware on the Main Menu.  (option will be all the way at the bottom of the main menu.)


    Detailed Steps to Update a GT Tuner


    To install the Bully Dog Light Duty Update Agent please open the following link.  Then open and run the file.


    1. Open the update agent. Note: the tune will need to be uninstalled from your vehicle to update. You can check the vehicle is stock by going to show settings, the status will read “installed” or “not installed”
    2. Connect the SD with either the card reader or the GT itself and the USB cable
    3. Highlight the card in the update agent, and select “select device”

    4.    Select your device (40417, 40420, etc.) then select “download and upgrade”

     

    5.    Wait for the download to finish, you will see this message.

     

    6.    Select ok, then with the sd card in the device, go to change vehicle at the top of the menu, if it is the first time updating, and select your vehicle. Or go to update software at the bottom of the main menu to update with the latest files.





    There are 2 methods of updating your WiFi-enabled device as described below.


    Method 1- Update directly from your device over WiFi

    1. Power up your device either through your OBDII port on your vehicle or via USB connection from your computer
    2. From the main menu, scroll down and select "Device Settings"
    3. Select "Check for Updates" (If you have not set up WiFi on your device yet then it will ask you to set up your WiFi connection.)
    4. If there are updates available then press continue
    5. You are all done!



    Method 2- Using a PC computer

    1. Make sure you have the Updater Software installed on your Windows PC. If you do not have it please click here 
    2. After downloading and installing our Updater Software open the program. There should be an icon on your desktop.
    3. Once Updater is open on your desktop. Plugin your device. 
    4. With the device plugged in select Automatically Check for Updates from the Basic Operations menu.
    5. Your device should start to Update. Notice the bottom bar it will let you know what part of the update it’s on.  This can take some time so be patient.  Your internet connection and computer speed can impact updating times.  The average time is 5-10 minutes. 
    6. You know you are done when Device Updater displays "Device is up to date!"



    There are 2 methods of updating your WiFi-enabled device as described below.

    2. From the main menu select "Updates" (If you have not set up WiFi on your device yet then it will ask you to set up your WiFi connection.)

    Method 2- Using a PCM computer 

    1. Make sure you have the Updater Software installed on your Windows PC. If you do not have it please click here

    4. With the device plugged in select Automatically Check for Updates from the Basic Operations menu.
